Hot for HTML5

Hot for HTML5

In the wake of Wooga’s announcement that it is pulling its HTML5 built game “Magic Island” off Facebook last week, a lot of people are wondering – what is the future of HTML5? Is the market ready for it? We here at FlixMaster certainly think so.

It’s no secret that our interactive design studio is built in HTML5 (in fact, we brag about it – shhhhh!), but its elegant appearance isn’t the only reason we’re seated firmly on the bandwagon (warning: we’re about to get techy). Coding in HTML5 enables us to build our platform without having to juggle a mess of programming languages, and as a result we have cleaner, neater code- it’s all JavaScript instead of complicated and redundant combinations of Actionscript, JavaScript, and 3rd party plugins. This lets our talented team of developers focus on bringing our users new features- such as a newly redesigned map editor that is sleeker, sexier, and packs more punch because of its ease of use and drag-and-drop functionality.

And that’s not all - HTML5 also enables websites to run faster because it cuts down on loading time, and we love this because it allows our users the freedom to upload, connect, and edit video clips at the speed they desire – no time wasted waiting around for the editor to load. And when it comes time to play projects, HTML5 proves it’s worth again because there is no need to download proprietary plug-ins like Flash to view the videos in modern browsers. On top of that it’s also compatible with mobile devices, which lets viewers experience our interactive videos on devices such as iPads. Flash lags behind in this respect- inefficient battery usage, performance, and security issues continue to hold it back from being a true mobile contender, which is why HTML5 scores major points in our book for allowing our videos to be accessible across multiple devices. These advancements, and many more, have firmly secured FlixMaster as a fan. HTML5 is sleek and sophisticated which makes it poised and ready for the future- with it we power our interactivity, which we believe is the crucial element to creating next-generation videos and engaging viewers – that’s why we #loveHTML5!
